■ First, check! About the installation status of fire alarm in your home

Due to amendments to the Fire Service Act, the installation of fire alarm became mandatory for newly built homes in 2006, and for all homes, including existing homes, in 2011. People who live in detached houses that they own are required to select and install a fire alarm themselves (or request the installation of one). Now that more than 10 years have passed since installation became mandatory, what is the current status of fire alarm installation?

The survey results showed that 67.1% of people have installed Residential Fire Alarms, 21.7% do not, and 11.2% are unknown. Looking at the age groups, the majority of people who have not installed fire alarm are in their 50s or older, which may suggest that many of these people live in homes built before the installation of fire alarms became mandatory. Compared to other generations, a higher percentage of people in their 30s answered that they do not know whether or not they have an alarm installed, which is likely because they are not the head of the household. According to a survey, only about half of people know when to replace Residential Fire Alarms.
Unlike other home appliances, it is difficult to notice that a Residential Fire Alarms is broken while in use. The next most common answer was "ease of installation and replacement," indicating that these factors are considered more important than low price.
