Hardships and Beginnings
19341966
The predecessor company, Fukushima Electric Works, was a specialized manufacturer of electronic components called volume (variable resistors) and once boasted the top share of the domestic market, but failed to expand its business and went bankrupt. The company was rebuilt the following year, but was unable to restore credibility, and suffered a second bankruptcy. Nevertheless, the remaining employees took the lead and founded NEW COSMOS ELECTRIC CO., LTD., in June 1960. Just as the company was beginning to see signs of recovery, an abnormality was discovered during pre-shipment testing of a new product. This was the company's turning point and its first step into the unknown field of gas sensors.

Since the early 1960s, which was heralded as the beginning of an era of mass consumption of LPG, our company was convinced that gas leak alarm would become necessary in society, and so we energetically pursued research and development in pursuit of better gas sensors and gas alarm. In this environment, our highly original products, created using our unique ideas and technological capabilities, accurately grasped the needs of the times and our customers, and earned high praise in both the industrial and household fields.

The gas alarm market has continued to grow along with the development of the Japanese economy. In addition to the traditional field of safety and disaster prevention that pursues safety and security, our company is moving forward to a new stage of comfort. In addition, with the rapid wave of globalization, we have begun to actively expand into overseas markets. Competing with manufacturers around the world, our company's high level of technical capabilities has been recognized, and we have gradually expanded the scope of our activities.
